As all of you know, I have a couple of amazing tulle skirts which are a fabulous addition to my creative shoots! However, I couldn't actually offer these if it wasn't for the amazing Samantha - owner, designer & maker of all things pretty at Lissi Lu Couture! Today I will be giving you an insight into Samantha's world of pretty tulle dresses along with some of her greatest achievements.
How long have you been making your designs?
Lissi-lu boutique was born in 2014, just shy of my daughters first birthday. I made my first tutu for her 1st birthday cake smash and my passion for tutus began. Our dresses now proudly travel around the world, these destinations include Disneyland Paris, California, New York, France, Germany, Italy and the UK!
How long does it take to make a tulle skirt?
An average short tutu dress takes a couple of hours to make the base alone, with the design time altering with the chosen design. Our big flower girl Julia dress can take anywhere between 4-8 hours depending on how many layers have been requested. The Julia is our higher range dress used for photo shoots and flower girl dresses. Each design and make take hours of prep, made with love and care which makes them oh so special.
What are your greatest achievements so far? Our best achievement has got to be designing dresses for Face of Europe, Face of the World children's beauty pageant in Disneyland Paris.
Also making a memerbilia item for our home town, Leicester City football club premier league win in 2016. This brought great publicity to our brand where we were featured in world wide magazines online and The Sun newspaper and many, many more.
What is your favourite design so far? The Julia dress has got to be my favourite. I named this after my mum as she supported me through my lissi-lu journey. Sadly, she passed away last year to cancer & this dress was one of the last dresses I made before she left us. The Julia is a gorgeous full skirt, full of layers with the option of adding as many layers as you like. Dresses are availabile in a large range of colours but my favourtie has to be grey. Pure class!
Do you have any exciting projects coming up? I am working on a very special, one of a kind dress which is to be taken down to Norfolk for a very special photoshoot - but I guess you will have to come back and see the outcome of that one. I am so excited! You can find Lissi Lu Couture on Facebook & Instragram. Facebook - Lissi-lu Couture Instagram - lissi_lu_couture
